Well, here’s my story. I never chased a younger man, never even considered dating someone younger than me. Still, I found myself asked out by younger men. It was against my social norms dating someone younger than me. Eventually my married co-workers urged me out on a date whereas I could relate the experience to them. No the man never knew he was a dating guinea pig. He was well aware of my age, but he explained why he preferred older women.
1. Older women accept who they are.
2. There is less drama.
3. They know what they want from life.
4. They don’t expect a man to do everything for them.
5. They are less moody.
6. Aren’t afraid to say what they think.
7. Are more willing to try new things.
8. They don’t always want a forever relationship.
9. They have their own interests, friends and hobbies.
10. Often cougars open up new worlds to a younger man.
11. Women look & act younger today than decades before.
There are younger men who prefer older women. I had a college professor who believed women became more adventurous as they aged. The kids were out of the house and they wanted to pursue their dreams of travel. Their male counterparts wanted to stay home and watch television. While I doubt this is always true, it can be sometimes. Most of my cougar characters did not start out as a cougars. The idea of going younger was a hard concept for them.
Considering all of these reasons, it’s not surprising men are willing to date older women, but not all older women, but only those they feel a connection with. I’m grateful my husband was willing to go older.
Check out my Cougar titles, especially Unexpected Cougar, which my husband helped me to write.
Instead she spends all her time at King Crab restaurant discussing her failed dates with Jackson, the young bartender. Why did love have to be so hard? Oh yeah, that’s why people came to her for advice. If she were to advise herself then it would be to grab Jackson, and forget his age.
By the time, she makes up her mind, Trinity shows up; she thinks Jackson would be the perfect third husband. Elise has to play dirty to win her man with hilarious results.
Her son inadvertently pushes her back into the dating game when he drops off his puppy, Ollie, as he heads out to deployment abroad. He fails to inform her that the puppy isn’t even close to being trained or even somewhat obedient.
Ollie brings the dating-phobic Theo into contact with Westvale’s hottest bachelor, Dr. Brent Knight. Despite her best friend Lorna’s urging to go after him, Theo hangs back due the eleven year age gap and her past romantic history, but it doesn’t stop Ollie from barreling ahead.
Going out with a cop, fourteen years her junior was an irrational thing to do her friends helpfully pointed out. Meeting Curt for drinks was just the beginning. Deidre was unsure how to handle her recovering hero, and her growing affection for the young alpha male. The real question was would Deidre be able to overcome her doubts and peer pressure to live the life she always fantasized about having?
Ashlee managed to ignore his hints for drinks and meetings putting it down to politeness. He felt sorry for her. There was no way he could be interested in a woman at least a decade older than him. That was until her work posse caught scent of the story and urged her to give the man a chance. Ashlee knew she had to be the most reluctant cougar in the history of womankind, but what did she have to lose?
At the age of twenty, she had another chance at superhero greatness as being one of the few female soldiers trained for combat. The fact that women will be able to serve in combat soon indicates that all the witnesses to the grenade incident have retired. The grenade incident didn’t prevent her two sons or daughter-in-law from enlisting in the service. Having different last names probably helped.
Morgan recently retired from teaching special needs students to write fulltime, instead of in the wee hours of the night. With the help of her helpful husband and loyal hound, she creates characters who often grab plot lines and run with them. As for flying, she prefers the airlines now.
