I am a huge advocate of adopting animals through a shelter. I currently have 4 animals (3 dogs and 1 cat) that have come from a shelter. These animals have wonderful dispositions! They are so loving and appreciative of their new homes. I support animal shelter adoptions in lieu of pet shops. There are far too many animals that need homes through your local shelter. Support your local shelter and help stamp out puppy mills!

Such a cutie! I hope he continues to do well with you guys! It’s great to hear about people adopting the seniors from the shelters. They still have so much love to give.

I have received some inappropriate cards, that's weird enough for me.

We also adopt senior dogs from our local shelter. Ours is not a no kill shelter so the senior dogs don't stand much of a chance. We have 4 seniors right now and two 2 year olds. All but one are rescues. We adopted a 14 year old maltese who will be 16 this year!

Oh my weirdest Valentine's present turned out to be one of the best. When we were still dating, my husband bought me an XL heating pad, LOL. I thought that was so odd until I pulled a muscle in my back and then I was so thrilled to have it.

Rescue dogs are the best! All eight of my chihuahuas are rescues. Colton is so sweet. And my weirdest Valentine’s gift was power tools from my dad — which I loved!

I think I once got a typewriter for Valentines Day. But, I needed and warned it.

What a handsome boy and kudos to you for adopting a senior dog! My three cats (four actually but one was adopted by a security guard in the building where I work in Chicago) were rescued from a cardboard box on the side of a gravel road in an Illinois winter 12 years ago.

2 of my current cats are rescues & the 3rd is a former feral who now likes to sleep cuddled with me. Strangest Valentines gift was a dozen red roses with no card that I thought were for my roommate so I left for the weekend & they were dead when I got back. Sorry if this is a duplicate but I couldn't see first pst even after 12 hours.

When My kids and I rented an old farm, to live on, there was a colony of wild "barn" cats. They lived on what rodents they could catch, most of the time, but sometimes, my kids and I would take extra things out there, especially when it was quite cold. Within the first two months, when they heard the key go into the door, after work, they would all rush to the house, to be let in, for rubs and scratches. By summer, we were discovering that some didn't go back out, right away, but would hide, and have their kittens, under the bed, under the couch, in the closets, etc. We found homes for many loving cats and kittens, and still had many living in the barn.

I cannot remember a strange present but there were many no presents, until my sons grew up more and they give very lovely presents.

I don't get Valentine's gifts, so no weird one to report. Richardson (just north of Dallas) is a no-kill shelter, which I fully support. All my babies have come from either a friend or a shelter.
