,My friend who runs a Poodle Rescue organization pointed out that one more dog wouldn't hurt, especially if it was small, as in poodle. Here's Colton with a rainbow on his body.

What places should you next visit? How about more animal shelters? Every dog needs a pal.

I agree. Our local shelter is working on a state of the art center.

Thanks. It is so obvious he is used to being around people. I know he has been in three shelters and the streets. It makes no sense to me that such a well behaved dog had to wait for a good home. It may have been the fact he chewed his tail raw.

Our fur babies have a habit of doing that. (Training us) But where would we be without them?

I live in an rv fulltime, I had a pet sitting/dog walking business before I left 4.5 yrs ago, I have tried to volunteer at shelters whenever I can; I'm always happy when the babies get adopted; I have 2 girls now, one was a stray from western NY state, no-one ever claimed her; the other I too got from the shelter I volunteered at in Flagstaff AZ.

I'm so glad you found each other. It is heartbreaking to see these wonderful seniors lose their homes, the people they have come to know and everything familiar in their lives. Its no wonder he chewed with the stress he was under. I took in a big fellow who was 7. We were his 4th home through no fault of his. They were: his breeder, a lawyer & wife who decided they had no time for him as they wanted to travel, and lastly a young couple who were divorcing. He passed away in March. Even though I still have two little dogs and 2 cats, I miss him and am still grieving.

It always warms my heart to see a senior dog adopted. They've so often given so much to so many for years--then just been dumped. I adopted a Bassett hound when he got shuffled from house to apartment to house with cats that terrified him. After eight years with the family, they couldn't find some resolution to keep him. I had him till he died in my arms several years later.
