What I Did on My Summer Vacation

Who else remembers the Peanuts specials where the kids had to write an essay on what they did that summer? Charlie Brown remembered playing baseball games where they came close to winning. Many movies, cartoons, and editorials have taken on the famous summer vacation essay. I dreaded it as a kid. Never assigned it as a teacher either. It only pointed out the obvious;glorious summer was over. What did I do over my summer?

My husband and I went to Nestle Inn in Indianapolis and took a cooking class. It had always been a dream of mine to take a cooking class together. It was fun. Unfortunately, we forgot the camera. :)

Another goal of mine was to start a bee garden to help the bee population. This meant no pesticides. I'd like to tell you it was a buzzing success, but I didn't have as many bees as I would have liked. Instead, it was more like a tiny butterfly farm

Indiana State Fair 2014

Holiday World, Santa Claus, In

I'm glad we were able to do the two things that symbolize summer here in Indiana, the state fair and a visit to Holiday World theme park.  I hope I never lose my enjoyment of these two excursions. The highlight of my fair trip was I got to pet the baby pigs in the photo.

We also did a wine trail tour through south central and south west Indiana. It is great being able to see the grapevines heavy with grapes. 

Each winery had an informative representative who explained the procedure in how each wine was made. Little did I know these little wine sampling visits to various places cost big bucks out in California.

We got in a little Putt Putt golf too. It's always a great day to play miniature golf in my world. The summer wound to a close with my first visit to the West Coast. I can now say I've seen the sun set over the ocean.
